ENGAGEMENT
In April 2022, I was elected as the Communications Officer of the Political Studies Association Early Career Network for a two-year term until April 2024. In this role, I managed the ECN's communications on social media as well as via email. For the annual ECN Conference, I was responsible for allocating panels and building the conference website. As the conference is entirely virtual to ensure more inclusivity, flexibility and accessibility for early career researchers across the globe, the website is the central place of the conference and hosts all presentations, discussions and recordings of synchronous sessions throughout the conference week. In addition to the annual conference, the ECN organizes a number of events throughout the academic year, including workshops and seminars as well as in-person events at the Political Studies Association Annual International Conference. As a member of the ECN Committee, my role thus also included (co-)organizing and chairing such events. I also delivered workshops on media engagement tailored specifically to early career researchers. A full list of events I have been involved in can be found on my CV which is available upon request.
In addition to my work on the PSA ECN Committee, I have been the PGR Department Representative for Politics and International Relations at the University of Southampton since 2021 and an ambassador for the German Academic Exchange Service since 2017. The latter includes speaking at education fairs and giving talks at universities and schools across Germany (online and in-person) to provide information about the organization's funding opportunities for UG and PG students and general advice about studying or researching abroad.
I was part of the organizing committee for the 2023 Elections, Public Opinion and Parties (EPOP) Annual Conference, held at the University of Southampton in September 2023. In relation to this, I was also involved in the organization of a pre-EPOP event sponsored by UK in a Changing Europe in collaboration with EPOP and the PSA Early Career Network. This event was aimed at early career researchers to provide a space to present works in progress and included career development and networking opportunities as well.
